How to get to Les Diablerets

The easiest way to get to Les Diablerets is by train. From Geneva or Zurich, you will need to change in Aigle (VD). There is one train every hour arriving at xx:19.

You can plan your trip with the SBB CFF online planner.

• Once in Les Diablerets, hotels Les Lilas, le Chamois, la Poste, and Les Sources can all be reached by foot in 3 to 10 minutes.
• If needed, you can reach Les Sources with the bus in front of the train station (direction Gstaad, departing every hour at xx:22) by getting off at Les Diablerets, Parc des Sports.
• The Hotel du Pillon can be reached in 8 minutes by foot from the stop Les Bovets or 20 minutes by foot from Les Diablerets.

Accommodation

The conference attendees will stay in five different hotels in Les Diablerets. Before the conference begins, we will email you information about the hotel you’ll stay in. We hope to contact all participants by August 20.

Conference Onboarding

The Welcome Desk will open on Saturday, August 31, from 5 pm, at the conference venue.

Dinner will be served at 7 pm at Hotel Les Sources.

There will be an opening ceremony with a show at 8.45 pm at the conference venue.

Karaoke night

On Tuesday, September 3, we will have a karaoke night at MTB Bar, starting at 9:30 pm.

Parking

Free parking is available in front of the hotels.

Currency

The currency in Switzerland is the Swiss Franc (CHF).

Goods and services in hotels and stores in Les Diablerets can typically be paid in cash or with major credit cards (except for American Express).

An ATM should be available in front of the train station, but keep in mind that there’s no currency exchange (Bureau de Change) in the area.

Electric plugs and sockets

Switzerland uses Type J plugs (here’s a picture of one). European two-prong plugs (“Europlug”) are compatible with them.

If you forget to buy/bring one, the hotel Les Sources can lend you one against a security deposit of 10 Swiss Francs or 10 Euros.

Weather

During the conference, you can expect daytime temperatures between 15°C and 25°C (59°F to 77°F), dropping to 10°C (50°F) or less at night.

Bring sturdy shoes (closed-toes at least) for the excursion on the Glacier, as there will be some snow to walk on. A down jacket can also prove helpful up there. Les Diablerets is at 1200m, and weather can vary quickly, so be ready for anything!
